Goal: Practise reading Hindi words with matras.

You’ll learn: How to read Hindi words with different matras, recognise common vowel marks, read simple words, and say them out loud.

Warm-up (30 seconds): Say “आ, इ, ई, उ, ऊ, ए, ऐ, ओ, औ” aloud as quickly and clearly as you can!

Mission: Let’s practise reading words with different matras and become a Hindi reading pro!

Practice exercises:

  1. Read all the words in the table out loud.
  2. Pick your favourite word and write it three times in Hindi.
  3. Listen to at least three audio links and repeat the words.
  4. Make a drawing of one word and label it in Hindi.
  5. Spot and circle all the matras in the example sentences above.
