Goal: Read simple Hindi words with matras (vowel marks).

You’ll learn: how to spot matras, say words with them, and understand their meaning.

Warm-up (30 seconds): Can you say “a”, “aa”, “i”, and “ee” out loud? Give it a try—make silly faces as you say them!

Mission: Let’s practise reading and saying Hindi words with different matras.

Practice exercises:

  1. Say aloud three words with the “ee” matra from the table.
  2. Match “किताब” with its English meaning.
  3. Write the word “बाल” in your notebook.
  4. Point to something yellow and say “पीला”.
  5. Listen to the pronunciation of “माता” and repeat it twice.
